Oh, I understood. When there's three or four people doing their routines, the timing isn't going to work out perfectly. I figured you (general you, not you in particular) couldn't hear it in the hall. It took me a few minutes to figure out that the beeping was in my room. It was just an interesting "when in Rome" exercise for me.

We really don't want to wake people up that often, but those are the orders. And the beeping, we really don't mean to ignore it, but that noise no longer enters a nurse's brain. There is a point sometime in the first few years of nursing where our brains simply stop registering those things as sound. I do promise that if there is a critical sound, heart monitor with a dangerous rhythm or a ventilator, I can hear those sounds.

Glad you are feeling better. And on behalf of the nurse who got puked on, "Thank you for being sorry. Don't worry about it, it happens a lot."

That's the other problem with dedications. On my first I was afraid my dedications would be longer than the book.

Even before I started writing, I read dedications and/or acknowledgments because they said so much about the creators' process and support network. :) I'm glad your hubby & bro are supportive of your creative endeavors. It's hard to do it alone. :)

I love to read dedications. You're right, it really does let you have a glimpse into who the author really is.

I've been kicking around the phrasing for my next one. I have to thank my dad for inventing sections of a working demonish language for me. My CP, friends who keep me sane and support me. I could go on forever (which is why it's still unwritten) lol

Although it was technically invented in the 14th century by Sejong the Great, it was very slow to be adopted because many aristocrats resisted the movement to change the writing system. Many elites thought writing is something that only the most well-educated should be able to do. (Crazy I know)

IIRC women were much more open to the new writing system because in many cases they weren't taught Chinese characters. So han-gul became something that women and lower class people used.

Now everyone uses it.

Yes, the writing system is very logical, but the government always changes the spelling rules, which drive me crazy. The rules I studied over ten years ago no longer apply. (sigh)

Re: Korean using Chinese until recently.

That would be the 14th century. The linguistics of Korean are pretty amazing. I stumbled across a site devoted to it and my jaw dropped. It is so logical.
